Reading Attitudes and Experiences

Interest inventories, surveys about reading habits, "My Life as a Reader?"
Anyone have formatives like this already before I start making some?

Hey Jen and Ashly, you both are in luck! I just finished this reading interest inventory with my students! I have to say, I was surprised by some of my students’ responses. For example. I thought that the overwhelming majority of my students read online mostly, but about half of them still get the majority of their reading materials from other sources!. Feel free to make a copy of it and edit your copy as you see fit! I’d love to hear what you think of my inventory and how it goes with your students!

My favorite question to ask when I’m working with students is. “What was the last book you read that you really liked?” That often helps me recommend another book to them. If I don’t know the book they name then I can follow up with, “What did you like about it?”

Thank you for sharing this. I’m looking forward to using it with my students.

No problem Jen! And thanks for suggesting those two questions. I swapped them in for my question about the favorite book they ever read. I think it’ll be a bit easier for them to answer and very telling too.
